Wedding stationery is the most ordinary brief in design. Save the date, invitation, menu, place card — a format so settled that most of the work is picking a typeface and getting out of the way. Angela wanted the romance of princesses and knights. Gilwann plays games and wanted an adventure. So instead of designing an invitation, we wrote a fable and gave everyone a part in it: their parents as the kings and queens of the realm, the wedding party as squires and ladies, the guests as the court. Each printed piece is an act, from the save the date to the night itself — a story to be lived rather than told.
The illustrations were drawn for the fable and printed on a selection of specialty papers chosen piece by piece.

I worked as a designer on this one and directed the illustration.
